Irrigation system

The irrigation system has supply capacity of 6.000.000 cubic meters of irrigation water, sufficient for irrigation of 5300 Ha.

The irrigation system is using the water supply of Prilep Lake dam (reservoir), built by TKP as a investor, in order to provide proper irrigation to tobacco fields. The water is used for irrigation since 1967. The irrigation season starts in March and ends in October.

 

 

Tutunski Kombinat – Prilep as investor has built 3 irrigation systems in Prilep municipal area, with main objective irrigation of tobacco fields, for its strategy: Continuous stabilization of tobacco production.

Those capacities are :

1.      HMS “Prilepsko Pole” built and operational from 1967

2.      HMS “Desovo”  built and operational from 1988

3.      HMS “Brailovo” latest and in use from 1992

HMS “Prilepsko pole” is built on a project from 5440ha (neto) irrigational area, or 6200ha (bruto)

For further development of the system, TKP built second system and nowadays farmers can irrigate area of 2750ha.
